  • Jyoti Kumari

    Jyoti Kumari is a young talented Madhubani painter from Simri, Madhubani. Born in 1989, Jyoti has taken up Madhubani painting as her profession for the last six years. Jyoti specializes in line painting. She has received training from her elder sister Kalyani Kumari and now providing training to a no of young girls and boys from her village. She has also participated in Planning Commission’s training initiative as a guru. In Jitwarpur she has disseminated her knowledge on marketing in training programme. Apart from painting she has also completed her Master degree in Psychology from Darbhanga University.

    Meera Devi born in Rajanpali village of Madhubani district has been painting for the last thirty five years. In her childhood days she received training on Madhubani painting from her mother. After marriage Meera Devi came to Simri and started painting professionally with her husband Daya Shankar Jha. She has received training on design in an initiative taken by Nabard. Meera Devi specializes in Tantrik and Godhna style of painting. She has participated as a Guru in a no of training programmes including Planning Commission’s project.

  • Kalyani Devi

    Kalyani Devi has been painting for the last 16 years. She started learning Madhubani painting only after her marriage. Kalyani Devi learnt painting from famous Madhubani artist Vidyanath Jha. She has visited Delhi, Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Patna, Bokaro and Jamshedpur to showcase her paintings in exhibitions and festivals. She teaches her daughter and other children of the village.

    Rita Devi born in 1979 at Darbhanga’s Hanti has been painting for the last thirteen years. Before her marriage she used to work on Sujni but after marriage she got inspired by her mother in law to learn Madhubani painting. She has acquired the knowledge of Madhubani painting from famous Madhubani artist Vidyanath Jha’s daughter Ranjan Kumari. Rita Devi specializes in Godhna style of painting but she also loves Kohbar painting. Apart from painting she also loves to sing on different rituals. Rita Devi was a Guru in Planning Commission’s training initiative. She has showcased her paintings in different exhibitions held at Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Delhi, Patna and Kolkata.
